(SASSI-3 and SASSI A-2)
Glen A. Miller
The SASSI-3 is a brief and easily administered questionnaire that screens for substance use disorders accurately, objectively and simply. The SASSI can be used with both adolescents and adults and is also available in Spanish. The measure takes approx. 20 minutes to administer and score.
The SASSI-3 was published in 1988 and is based on more than 25 years of empirical research showing the following accuracy rates.
SASSI-3 for adults - 93% overall accuracy
SASSI-A2 for adolescents - 94% overall accuracy
Spanish SASSI - 84% overall accuracy
Interpretations of SASSI profiles also suggest clinical hypotheses that may be useful in understanding your clients and help in planning their treatment.
The SASSI is used in a variety of human service settings including addiction treatment centers, criminal justice programs, employee assistance programs, education, mental health, medical and vocational programs.
