Parent Perception of Child Profile (PPCP)

The PPCP tells you how well a parent knows and understands a given child. Self-administered or used as a structured interview, this comprehensive questionnaire covers eight areas of the child’s life:
 
• Interpersonal Relations
• School History
• Fears
• Personal Hygiene
• Developmental History
• Health History
• Daily Routine
• Communication
 
In addition, a special scale indicates the parent’s potential for becoming irritated with the child. The 23-item questionnaire provides space for the evaluator to record corroborative information from other sources, such as teachers, pediatricians, baby-sitters, and tests. The Kit includes a Recall Worksheet, which can be used when you suspect that a respondent’s interest in the child is not sincere. The Recall Worksheet simply asks the respondent to recall his or her responses to selected items.

The questionnaire is an excellent way to gather and organize a parent’s stated perceptions of his or her child. It allows you to determine how accurately the parent perceives the child, to compare the perceptions of the mother and father (or grandparents), and to evaluate the respondent’s interest in the child.
