Occupational Stress Inventory-Revised™ (OSI-R™)
Samuel H. Osipow, Ph.D.
The OSI-R provides a clear, concise overview of the psychological strains an individual is experiencing as a result of work stressors, as well as assists in the development of effective coping strategies to alleviate or eliminate those stressors. This revised version measures three domains of occupational adjustment:
•
Occupational Stress
•
Psychological Strain
•
Current Coping Resources in Adults (age 18 and up)
OSI-R administration tales 30 minutes and is suitable for a number of important applications, including group assessment. Organizational/occupational evaluations can identify sources of stress and symptoms of strain that are prevalent in specific occupational departments or units. The OSI-R serves as a reliable and consistent outcome measure to establish the effectiveness of individual or organizational interventions.
Additionally, the OSI-R is an excellent tool for use in career counseling and employee assistance programs to help individuals understand the sources of occupational adversity and recognize the need for change.
The OSI-R includes the following revisions:
•
Normative data by gender
• Normative data for specific occupational categories
• Modifications to several original items
• Review of research studies involving the OSI/OSI-R
• 3 composite case studies
