The CDI is a 27-item self-report, symptom-oriented scale for children. In addition to the total depression score, the full CDI yields scores for five new subscales including:

• Negative Mood
• Interpersonal Problems
• Ineffectiveness
• Anhedonia
• Negative Self Esteem

The manual summarizes the development of the instrument and presents complete validity and reliability evidence. Clinicians and researchers alike will find the voluminous compilation of more than 140 published research studies on the CDI to be invaluable.

The CDI is easy to administer and score using carbonized QuikScore forms. The administration and scoring forms include profile forms.

In addition to the full CDI, a new 10-item short version, the CDI-S, permits quick screening. The CDI-S correlates .89 with the full CDI.
